We are meeting in Paris

September 20th, 2007 by Kanti Kumar

This year’s annual meeting of UNEG started off today in Paris. A range of issues were discussed on the first day. The future of print magazines in the UN was in focus in the first session in the morning. The post-lunch session on reaching new audiences included discussions on the use of new web tools such as blogs, podcasts, YouTube and Swivel. And the third session dealt with the use of plain language in the jargon-infested world of the UN. Tomorrow the discussions will be on topics like editorial convergence for magazines, books and the web, and copyright in publishing. UNESCO is hosting the meeting this year.

UN Editors of Journals and Periodicals Meeting, 10-11 June 2004UN editors at 2004 meeting
The OECD had the honour of hosting the 40th anniversary meeting of the UN Editors of Journals and Periodicals on 10-11 June 2004 in Paris. Although the OECD is not part of the UN system, editors from the OECD Observer have been involved in this UN annual gathering for many years.
The aim is for professionals to share experiences, seek practical advice, resolve common problems and to maintain and expand this valuable network of skilled communications professionals. As hosts, the OECD took the opportunity to explain some of its public affairs and communications operations and initiatives (in media relations, data management, online publishing, and so on) as well as moderating discussions on how our work influences policy-making. An agenda is linked below.
